A Wonderful Tribute To A Wonderful Mom

by a Wonderful Son and Author, Mitch Albom

One Last Column For A One-of-a-kind Mom

From my very first encounter with Mitch Albom's works, my senses told me that this man is worth watching for. Did I ever say, I like Mitch. 'Like' is a simple word, but adore would be too strong. Should I say I cherish his works? hmm...Anyway, he is one among my few favorite non-Indian authors.

I knew this man has a strong influence of his mother. We can see her shadow in every story he writes. She is there, like a star shining behind a faint cloud, in the values, life's simple treasures he secretly wishes all of us to cherish. Especially while reading 'For One more day', I have literally felt her presence, in the character of the protagonist's mother, including the halloween costume she creates with toilet paper. I thought that she must have been a wonderful mother. Well.

I wonder...

How a person can express motherly love so beautifully, if he hasn't experienced one?
How a person can create wonderful mothers, if hadn't have one?
How a person can know about the treasures of life, if he hadn't pocketed some?

Mitch seems to have all them, because of this wonderful lady. I am sure she is resting peacefully now, knowing that her love is being transmitted through her children. Her legacy would continue to flow through her son's stories and his charity activities.

RIP Mrs. Rhoda Albom.
